Empowering Youth in a World of Conflict: Innovative Educational Solutions for Peacebuilding and Dialogue
Nowadays, young people interact more with the media and have been exposed to news of violence, conflicts and wars around the world. Especially after the start of the war between Ukraine and Russia, young people have the perception that physical wars are still a reality in 2022. It is clear that young people in
Ukraine are experiencing the most psychological pain as a result of Russia’s military operation. This also means that any young person with access to the internet, computer, phone, television, radio or newspaper will be aware that there is a conflict going on and many of them will be beginning to understand
The impact it has on young people. Rather than keeping young people away from digital tools or avoiding their screen time, the most significant step in addressing these issues is to develop awareness and educate young people by creating innovative educational solutions in relation to peacebuilding, conflict resolution and maintaining environments of dialogue between different cultures.
Objectives
- Develop an innovative peace education toolkit to connect youth with different cultural backgrounds to enable them to build strong, resilient, respectful, and peaceful communities.
- Train, support and inspire youth workers to enact localised projects on peace education and dialogue between conflict groups of youths to promote inclusive societies and social cohesion.
- Develop, test, publish and disseminate a toolkit on peace education through digital storytelling by using virtual peacemakers platform.
- Provide young people with a digital environment where they can share their ideas and stories to sustain peace in the community.
- Promote European values that are transferable in their future education, employment and personal development.
- To tackle social exclusion and overcome societal conflicts through youth work.
- Promote quality standards in youth work by increasing youth organisations’ and local authorities’ expertise in quality non- formal education, the human rights approach, and project management.
